So the story continues......
After a year or so I got used to being called "CORK" but actually in Normanton it means something precious.The people of Normanton are not very clever but they are honest country folks and friendly, if they dont like you they will tell you to your face but if they like you ,you can get away with murder.I haven't murdered any one but there are people who are my patients they said to me" I cant talk anything bad about you in the pub if someone overheared me he will come and defend you".Thats how they are in Normanton.So I got eyes and ears in Normanton.My eyes and ears are my patients and they are very loyal to me.And I liked that.Even now when I have retired there are many patients still keeping intouch with me and talked to me and seeked my advise.I tried to help them as much as I could but I am not superman or a magician so I cannot wave a magic wand to get rid of all their problems. I wished I could.I honestly wished I could have a magic wand to make their troubles go away.
