One day an elderly lady sought his advice regarding her worry that she was losing so much of her hair. The patient was no doubt hoping that some treatment may be available to stop or reduce the hair loss. The doctor did not show a great deal of understanding for her plight, as can be seen from the conversation that took place between him and his patient:
Patient: "What do you think the problem is, doctor?"
Doctor: "You are going bald."
People in Yorkshire are accustomed to straight speaking but I doubt if the patient was expecting such a cold-hearted response to her request for help.
