There was this funny thing that happened in Normanton practice when I first joined the practice. My senior partner was an asian doctor and had a very heavy indian accent. One day he phone one of his patients who is a pig manure maker to deliver some manure for his rose trees since he was a keen gardener.
He said " I want some manure for the rose tree."but the chap on the other end of the line said "Oh! yes doctor I got it I will put it through the letter box."
My senior partner said " No I don't want it through the letter box,I want it in the garden."
What happened is the patient heard that the doctor wanted The menu for the Rtory Club in Normanton.Thats why he said he will put it through the letter box but the doctor want the manure delivered in his garden for his rose trees.
See how an accent could change the whole meaning of the conversation.
