Where I practiced is a small town situated near the coal mines in West Yorkshire most of my paitent came from miners family. But when I started my practice there the whole town is in a devastating situation because of the pits were closed. It was just after the miners strike and the whole area is highest in unemployement.Crime was rampant and people are in a desperate situation.
In the beginning I was downhearted but when I came to know the people and the place it wasn't half as bad as I thought.People are friendly and down to earth although simple and not very educated. Most of them were working class only a very few were of middle class. The working class people are beautifull and good natured and honest only the middle class could be sometimes tricky.Igot along with them fine and within a short period I became a well accepted person in the town.
I tried to be honest with them and told them that I dont know everything but I will try my very best to help them.If they need to see the specialist I will not hesitate to reffer them to hospital. They acepted that and they think I am somebody who they could come for help if they had any health problem.
to be continued.......

ReplyDeleteIt is true that many of the people in Normanton are "intellectually challenged" but most of them are sincere people who would not wish to do harm to others.
ReplyDeleteI was born in Normanton and now live in Torquay, Devon. Devonians are not as friendly as people in Yorkshire. Many of them are two faced, aggressive, humourless morons who cannot be trusted. I refer to them as Nazis. If the Germans had occupied Britain during World War 2 I am sure they would have been collaboraters.
My advice to anyone thinking of moving from Yorkshire to the South would be that they should not. Anyone who wants to leave Yorkshire should go in the opposite direction.
Northerners are looked upon as inferior by Devonians, who have big opinions of themselves. Such a high-handed attitude is difficult to comprehend given that Devon produces absolutely nothing of worth. No industrial base at all. In fact without money brought in by tourists it would be a basket case enconomy that would produce insufficient wealth to support the native baskets who live in the county.
Wages in Devon are pathetic. Northerners would not do the Mickey Mouse jobs Devonians do for pittances.
Very true, but Ihave live in yorkshire and never regret any minute of it.Iwiil die in yorkshire. And will be happy to be buried there.
